Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!

Council Picks No New President

Anybody know who it is? They went through ten or eleven rounds of 7-7 tie votes, Keogh-Davis- then they took a break around 8pm. I looked at the TV again at 8:30 and apparently it's over. What happened?
Update. Oh God. I reverted to checking Shay's Twitter page. Eccch...twitter. It served a purpose this time. Shay sez:

That's not what you want. I don't get it. Kurt Wright said he'd like to see Davis succeed him. Why isn't that enough? What are the Dems trying to prove?
Because. He served the city for many years. He did a good job as council president and he got 49% in the last mayoral election. It would be gracious to consider his parting request out of respect.
Grace. Respect. Continuity. Decorum. Deference. Harmony. Congeniality. These are the reasons why it should mattter to the council what Kurt wants.
Yes, Kurt Wright left a parting request, but really, Dems have 50% of council, while no other group has more than 3 members. Why shouldnt the party that at least half of the city thinks should be in charge of city government be in charge? Besides, Davis has a conflict of interest being president while working for UVM.

You might want to run the numbers on that again, Cocheese. Half the council does not even necessarily represent half the voters, let alone half the city.
Supporters of Davis represent Progs, Republicans and Independents, a much broader coalition of support than that which comes from a single party.

Not picking even a president is a sure sign of the squabbling to come.
If they can't even pick a president, what else CAN'T they get done? The Dems are fools for not bringing the Progs into their camp.. extending the olive branch and just making up and moving on. It's pathetic.
The Progs and the GOP just luckily have enough votes to quell any Dem uprising. It's stupid political BS and it must END in Burlington if anything is going to get done.

Eh, I dunno. Haik's been pretty consistent on this particular stance of his. As much as I like to argue with him about it, he makes a legit point. If the mayor's job is really about stewardship--and that's usually a financial definition--then Kiss has done alright. I think many of us would like to see more dynamism, more public leadership. But, that doesn't seem to be Bob's wheelhouse. Perhaps in these particular times, Burlington is suitably served by and administration (including JL) that's keeping a close eye on the bottom line.
Now granted, that's a peculiarly conservative approach. Nonetheless, I know people think these are the times when dynamism is needed most. But maybe even Bob understands that Burlington can't afford to not play conservatively from time to time.
