Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

Wright Calls Off Recount
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Breaking News
After the ballots from Wards One, Two, Three and part of Ward Six were counted by the Board of Civil Authority, Kurt Wright has called off the recount. It is not immediately clear why.
Also, it appears Jane Knodell was the first to leave the meeting, while other councilors toiled on in their civic duty much later into the night.
Developing Story...
Update 03.11.09 10:35am: Email from Kurt...
Good Morning Haik,
My original intention was to have entire City recounted but after 4 Wards were complete (except the 3rd round in Ward 6) it was clear that the recount was going to confirm the result. Four Wards were basically done and everything--except for a vote or two -- was matching up. I did not feel the need to drag everyone back for another night of counting.
I believe we accomplished our goal of confirming the integrity of the process as well as having the opportunity to explore how IRV works. Now it is up to the citizens of Burlington as to whether they want to continue with this system of voting in the future. I am sorry if you (or anyone else) is disappointed that we did not complete the recount, but as I said, I believe we accomplished our goal and it is time to move on. I appreciate and Thank all the people that gave up a night in order to do this important work.
I am still gratified to have been the leader in the first round of voting (first place votes) as well as the second round and to have come so close to winning even in the final round. It was a tremendous experience and Hopefully most citizens felt I added something to the debate.
I am remain in the Legislature, but in terms of City politics I will return to the ranks of what I was before--a concerned citizen that loves our City.
To the people that didn't vote--shame on you. To the thousands that did, thank you.
Good luck with with the blog Haik,
Kurt Wright
Thank you Kurt for your service to the city and to the state, and for running a very decent and honorable campaign for mayor. And thanks for asking for a recount. I think it was worth it to verify at least some of the machine totals.
Kurt and his GOP counterparts make a pretty big deal about not costing the taxpayers any additional money when they are on the stump or talking to voters.
A 12 hour recount and a subsequent runoff in Ward 7 will cost the city time and money.
Wright, Dober, and the GOP in general are hypocritical and stubborn. When you lose, accept defeat and move on.
There were a LOT of concerns about the process especially around Ben Pacey's handling of the system. Remember last September and November??
Kurt did the right thing and he called it off and saved the city some money in the process. I'm glad he's still representing Burlington in the House and I wish him the best. He's not done in city politics. I hope he runs for his old Council seat in a few years.
Kurt told us the reason he was requesting a recount had nothing to do with the "outcome" of the election. He admitted a recount would not likely make him Mayor. It was to help us understand the IRV voting system.
It's likely that completing this recount would have done exactly what Kurt promised it would and that's what inspired him to halt the recount. If a recount was undertaken and the process challenged the notion that IRV is too complex it could have served to dispell the notion that IRV is too complicated to understand. This would not be a good thing for those who are opposed to IRV.
Either way, this stinks.
Kurt Wright is done in politics. His word is no good. I'm more happy than ever today that he wasn't elected as the next mayor of Burlington.
I think this recount should be completed. Take a solid look at the process. Once it's completed and verified to work, the legislature should move to install it statewide in the upcoming Governor, Lt. Governor's races.
Jfarrell, you're missing the point. The recount (as far as it went, which was substantial) verified the accuracy of the computerized totals, which had been open to question.
Max and Jfarrel. You are dim freaks. Your money is the city's so get over it. Go get dunked and get played by a fluffy parachute. It is the right of the candidate to ask for a recount, get over it.
Kurt's intention was to call IRV into question. He actually didn't add a thing to the debate. All he said, over and over, was that Burlington needed leadership. Maybe if he'd been more specific he'd have won. Good on Burlington for getting rid of him.
Well Jay, if it's anonymous and there's nothing after it, I just delete it and replace it with a similar but redacted anonymous comment. Not surprisingly, the comments that warrant redaction are almost always anonymous.
Yes Jason, editing is more fun than simply deleting the whole thing.
Haik, wasn't it YOUR comments from not-so-many moons ago that would make a trucker blush? You used more profanity than a NASCAR driver sponsored by Tampax.
Someone's gotta stick up for Anonymous posting....
