Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

The Way We Were

Does anybody else get this? There's still a part of me that gets uneasy when I hit "pause" on a You Tube video, because I grew up with tape decks, and it wasn't good for tapes to leave them on pause. There was physical resistance and strain involved, and even though that isn't true with an internet video, I still look for "stop" instead of pause. Except often now "pause" is all there is, because when it's fly-by-wire, pause and stop are the same.
I was just watching 101 Dalmatians with Koko. The animation in it is made up of real drawings. Nothing but real drawings. It's such a richer, fuller experience than any of the computer-generated crap out there today. And I wonder, are there any real cartoons made anymore? I'm guessing not, since the cost of labor for the illustrators would be so high. That's sad. I wonder what the last real, drawn cartoon movie was.
John McCain told an ugly rape joke in 1986. Here's a .pdf of a newspaper article about it. The story cites Bruce Wright and Leigh Larson as witnesses, but says they could not be reached for comments at the time. Lee Larson seems to have died, but I bet the Bruce Wright in question is one of these. If you want a scoop for your blog or high school newspaper, you could probably cold-call those Bruce Wrights until you found the one who was present for the McCain rape joke and confirm what was not confirmed by the Tucson Citizen in 1986.
Things are like that. The world is small and so is cyberspace. For example, I did a post on Single Payer Universal Health Care a month ago. Now if you Google that term, my post is the #9 search result in the whole world. I find that depressing, and an indication that single payer is a long way from ever being a reality in this country.
I visited Tucson once. Nice place. I've been to the Grand Canyon twice, too. Maybe after I've been blogging a couple more years, I'll share a wild story about one of those trips to the Grand Canyon. Not yet though. I'm not ready.
In the first few months of this blog, one of my anonymous detractors commented here that I was living in the past. In a way that's true. I'm actually ageless. I'm the son of an immigrant and a direct descendant of the Mayflower. I still think about 9-11 quite often. I keep links up to blogs that haven't been updated in years. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy thinks my blog's layout is too spartan and dour.
