Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

Kesha Ram vs. Chris Pearson
Friday, June 20, 2008
Yesterday after work, the kids were climbing the walls so Poopsie and I decided to take them downtown so they could climb the rocks on Church Street instead. At Ben and Jerry's we ran into my old high school friend Bess Huddle, daughter of that writer guy David Huddle. Bess lives in Madison Wisconsin now and is working on her Doctorate in literature. She's in Burlington to get married Saturday. Congratulations Bess!
Down at City Hall Park we had a nice chat with Selene Hofer-Shall and Kesha Ram. Selene won't be making it to the blogger barbecue this year because she has to be at relative's 100th birthday party instead. Hopefully her father will be there though, with or without his magic bus, The Emerald Gypsy. He's one of the few folks I've met who agrees that fire alone wouldn't collapse a skyscraper.
Selene introduced Poopsie and me to former UVM Student Government president Kesha Ram. Kesha, we were informed, will be trying to take out Chris Pearson in a bid for the legislature. And look... she even has a website. That should be an interesting race.
Somehow we got talking about Mayor Kiss's potential vulnerability next year. Now, I'm not a Prog or a Dem- but I told Selene if the Dems really want a shot, they should run Ed Adrian. "I would LOVE to run Ed Adrian!" she said. (Heh, heh.)
Oh what else? Well, speaking of City Hall... Here's an interesting new blog by one of Bill Simmon's students. In the latest post we learn that the fountain in front of our capitol will soon be a fountain again.
Ram is also running against David Zuckerman. It would be a sad shame for Kiss not to be re-elected and the same for Pearson and Zuckerman. There are no stronger advocates for their constituents. Dems would love to take out Progs because they've been shut out of the mayor's office all these years and are still sore about it. It's not because of their work for their constituents. What are the complaints against Kiss, Pearson and Zuckerman?
I have a couple of complaints against silent Bob- He let Jo LaMarche get away, and put Ben Pacy in charge of elections. When Pacy broke the ballot box seal (and the law) Kiss didn't do anything about it.
Otherwise Kiss has been very good, but that doesn't mean he isn't potentially vulnerable.
Pearson...eh. I'm not into getting rid of the electoral college, which is the focus of his livelyhood- and he's not the best writer. But whatever.
I know this is likely to be taken the wrong way, and certainly no offense to anyone, but why are there seemingly so few locals running for office in Burlington or Vermont in general? Clearly, many people do stick around, or leave and come back. There's TJ, Paul Decelles, and...? Maybe those who would run are doing so in another state and town?
Maybe my perception is off? But who was last VT native to hold the governor's office? Mayor? I know, I know, this all sounds all xenophobic and less than 'cosmopolitan.' But, it just seems that people who are born and raised in a place would want that perspective(s) more definitively represented. Sure, people can do so with their votes...to a degree. And this isn't meant to suggest that there is some sort of quintessential "Vermont" voice that's under represented. Although...that argument is made over and over in the FreeP forums. Rather unfortunately.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Clavelle. And yes Haik, I wasn't intentionally leaving you off the list. You served well. And frankly, there should be more people like you running for office. People who were born here, who went through the public school systems, who left, saw some of the world (in your case, quite a bit), and have chosen to be in VT (burlington, in particular). There's alot of value in that. And I do admire your willingness to get out there and get into office, especially when you were that young.
Now again, this isn't to disparage our newly minted (or less newly) VT neighbors as they seek office. I know many people have done great things for VT and Burlington having come in from outside (see: Ethan Allen). I'd just like to see more homegrown folks chart VT's course. Maybe in the state leg. there's more of it. Really, do out of staters move to Rockingham?? I freely admit that I have a strong statism streak in me. I may live in Virginia, but not because I think it's a better than Vermont.
