Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

I have never seen a commercial that showed a man cleaning a toilet. One time I saw one where a man was pushing the cleaning product, but when it cut to the demonstration, it was a black woman's arm in the frame doing the dirty work. How many people give a thought to such images?
It would be hard to indict an individual commercial, but there are some serious patterns fed into our brains all the time. A lot of them, like women-only toilet cleaning are very sexist.
Did you know women didn't even have the right to vote in this country until 1920?
The Kiss swearing in was a nice event. I've never been to others so I don't know how to compare them, but the place was packed with people, upstairs and down. There were tons of supporters (Hingtgen, Pollina, Jonathon Leopold, Zuckerman, Franco, David Clavelle, Chris Pearson) tepid supporters (Bernie and Jane) and hangers on (Michael Monte, John Tracy, Carina Driscoll, Doreen Kraft).
It was interesting how the most senior city councilors left the hall to bring the Mayor-elect into the room to be sworn in. (I was worried I was at a Grange meeting for a minute) Kiss was greeted to sustained applause and cheers and made a nice speech which I won't paraphrase here. The Free Press will reprint it tomorrow, I heard. He outlined the challenges the city faces while expressing confidence that, working together, we'll meet the challenges. Funny, you might hear other people say the same thing, but with Kiss you believe it. He leaves you with a sense of optimism. The biggest crowd reaction was to his statement about our cities suffering because of the billions being wasted in Iraq. (Dubie, Kurt Wright and Paul Decelles sat on their hands for that one)
After his speech, the new mayor swore in the new city council. The city council then elected Ian Carleton to lead the city council. The meeting then adjourned as is the custom on Organization Day, apparently. Then everyone did Vodka shooters served up by the Hooters girls who have Mondays off, I guess. Kidding....
I wouldn't make much of a reporter, but that's some of what happened.
The bottom line on immigration is nothing is ever going to change. America can’t protect its borders because they’re just too long. A border wall with Mexico is impossible. As the son of one immigrant and the husband of another, I’m pretty much in favor throwing the borders wide open, anyway. My wife disagrees, however. As a refugee who applied and waited to come here legally, she feels immigrants should have to prove their cases and be processed to enter the US.
The other day Jon Stewart conjured this famous picture, sarcastically agreeing with Bill Frist, that plans to deport the country’s eleven million illegal immigrants were 'workable.' “It’s absolutely workable,” quipped Stewart “Just think about Elian Gonzolas, how easy that was. Now times that by eleven million.”
To me this Clinton-era image was almost as disturbing as the ATF’s burning of the Branch Davidian compound and its inhabitants. Janet Reno wasn’t great. I wish Clinton tried to pry this kid’s father from Castro’s grip for a split second when he came to pick him up. The father may have defected too given half a chance. Instead we got this disgusting display. Since this boy returned to Cuba, I haven’t seen a single solitary follow-up story about him and how he’s doing today. Why?
rowvee has said in the comment string that he or she (forgive me rowvee) would go to the inaugural and state of the city address and give us the skinny. We're still waiting for that report.
I thought about going, but ended up walking to the park with Poopsie and Koko (seen here screaming and trying to get away from Bob.)
