Take two thick slices of Noonie's day old bread, smear Honey Cup honey mustard
liberally over both. Cover both slices with green leaf lettuce. Then on one slice only lay smoked turkey on the lettuce,
a tomato slice on the turkey and sprinkle it with shredded carrot. Then on the lay a slice of provolone cheese over the
carrot then a green pepper ring on top of the cheese. Sprikle with sprouts. Cover with the other slice, lettuce side down.
The letuce should be stuck to the bread with honey mustard so it doesn't fall off when you turn it upside down to cover the
sandwich. Slice sandwich in half with a knife. Wrap in tightly in plastic wrap. Use too much wrap. Tape on label. Tadaaa!
Weighs one pound. Costs Four Bucks.

Tarrant’s Hubris
Friday, February 03, 2006
For a couple of weeks I’ve been trying to figure out if Republican Senate candidate Richard Tarrant has ever been elected to any public office before seeking to represent the State of Vermont (where he doesn’t even live) in the upper house of Congress. I emailed that question to his campaign every day for a week. They ignored me and never wrote back, so the other day I asked Peter Freyne. Peter responded “Not that I'm aware of.” A better answer than nothing, but still not definitive, so I kept looking.
Then I came across this piece in Saint Michael’s College newspaper The Echo online. The answer wasn’t in there, but I emailed Echo executive editor Jeff Morton who wrote it. Morton graciously did some digging for me and replied with this quote from the transcript of his interview with Tarrant:
“I did run for select board in South Burlington in 60’s and lost so I am basically new to the game.”
So there’s the scoop. It’s attributable to The Echo, but you probably heard it here first. This guy has never been elected anything. Not to a select board, a council or a school board. Not as mayor, justice of the peace, election inspector or dog catcher. And he wants to go straight to the US Senate, ahead of a man who lead our city for eight years and has represented Vermont in the US House since 1990.
What a joke.
The people of Vermont are not that dumb and we can’t be bought. I doubt very much he would have put someone with ZERO experience in charge of IDX. Nor should we entertain the ridiculous notion that Tarrant is in any way qualified to go to the Senate. He’s got some serious dues to pay before that. The kind you can’t just buy. And he might as pay those dues in Florida where he lives.
"Getting the job done" is a platitude. It's meaningless. The job of representing a constituency is never done. Tarrant's candidacy is the quintessence of patrician hubris and empty rhetoric. He's got nuthin', and neither do you. Thanks for your comment. Visit BurlingtonPol often.
